Yeah...It's been awhile...Shame shame shame!

Hi y'all. Sigh, the best laid plans of mice and men, oui? I said that I would be doing a lot of writing on this here blogspot...Did I? Nooooooooooooooo. Bad Bernard. Tsk tsk. Okay, that's all the discipline I need for today. Hello, welcome back to the Bernard Travel show. I am your host D. Bernard N. Higham (a.k.a. Signore Puma for those in cyberspace) and I have been living in Taichung, Taiwan for...[counting with his fingers] oh geeze...TEN MONTHS!!! Ahhhhh! What's new? How shall I recount to you all, the new thangs that have happened here...Gawdamnnit...I guess I'll have to do one of those annoying Top Ten lists (they're everywhere these days). Here we go:
  1. I am a certified motorcycle fan. I have been riding a Kymco Zing (a lowrider motorbike with a lawnmower heart) since sometime around October or November. It started to die out at least once a month so I finally gave in and I am now in the process of buying a new(er) motorbike a Kymco KTR. I have to say that I hated riding them bikes at first, but now I prefer manual shifting over automatic. It's a lot of fun!
  2. I am the proud daddy of an 8 year old Chihuahua robustus (a large Chihuahua) named Spike. He's been metioned here previously. We two get along really well and he is a certified sweetheart. Still waiting for a woman who will lick my face everytime I come home. lol
  3. I have been working at a Kindergarden/bushiban school named "Reggio" since October 2005. It's been a lot of fun and a tremendous amount of work at times. Right now, it ain't so hot, but that's what ESL employment is like here in Taiwan. When you start a new teaching position, they adore you...and then slowly but surely the critique starts to creep in...they want you to do more of this and more of that...sigh...it's getting time to start looking for a new job. But damn, I love my students! They're the reason I keep working there.
  4. Still living with Sage. I am sure that he is at the same stage as I am where he wants to kill me one moment with a watermelon spoon and the next moment tiptoe through a field of daisies with me. We have become painfully aware of each of our shortcomings as roommates.
  5. I'll be going home for a short jaunt in June/July. If any one is in Vancouver, L.A., or Edmonton, please get off your fat ass and pay me a visit!
  6. I had my hair all cut off. Lemmie tell ya that it was time to go back to the short cut. Long hair in a hot country is bloody claustrophobic. Besides, my Brit friends Graham and Shelly went tag team on my head and gave me a fantastic haircut. Thanks lad and lass!
  7. I finally had the chance to go down to Kending (the town at the southernmost tip of Taiwan). It was beautiful there! Amazing beaches. Soft sand. WARM BLUE WATER. Rock music. Caesar cocktails! Oh gawd, it was paradise! [The author is alluding to the "Spring Scream" concert festival that happened two weekends ago.]

That's about all I can think of right now...Stay tuned.
